Kladdkaka | Swedish Chocolate Goey Cake

The “kladdkaka” is probably the Swedish equivalent to the American brownie. Who doesn’t love them?! I don’t think I’ve ever met a Swede “tacka nej” to kladdkaka. This Swedish treat is rich, gooey, and chocolatey. It is usually served with a dollop of homemade whipped cream or ice cream. You can have it for fika or dessert!

Kladdkaka is so very easy to make! It only has a few ingredients that you usually keep in your pantry that is quickly whisked together and then put in the oven.

Kladdkaka

1 stick of melted butter
2 eggs
1 1/2 c sugar
1 1/4 c all purpose flour
4 tbsp cocoa
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 pinch salt

Preheat oven to 395F.

Butter and coat a springform pan with breadcrumbs.

Whisk egg and sugar together and then add butter.

Combine all of the rest of the above ingredients in a bowl and whisk together until blended and there’s no lumps.

Pour into springform pan and bake at 395F for 20 minutes.

Let cool and serve with a dollop of whipped cream and berries!
